Peacock with MiuraOri

I folded a Peacock designed by Jun.MAEKAWA.
This work is one of most my favorite origami.

The wing is "Miura Ori", famous origami technique.

Paper size is 15cm square.

The diagram is in "Genuine Origami".

I posted for the first time in 6 years. I'm glad this blog still exists.

20th Origami Convention

In August 16,17, I went to Toyo University.
The 20th Anniversary Origami Tanteidan International Convention was held in that place.


Many people love origami visited there.About 450 people.


In origami convention,I could enjoy the exhibition,many workshops and dinner party very very well.
And I taught an origami squirrel(created by Mr.Maekawa) in one of the workshops.
It is my first time class on my life.Wao!


I'm so happy now.
Please come to the next convention.

Origami Deer

This origami deer have structure of Mr.Kawabata's Yoda.
And I imitated the finishing touches of Mr.Maekawa's reindeer.
Mr.Kawabata and Mr.Maekawa are very famous origami artists in Origami world.
I respect them.

Hercules Beetle the Before and After

In the summer, we go out to find and catch some insects.
It's so hot this summer, then I fold an insects in cool room.

By the way, I folded same model in July.2010.

I thought that my origami skill little progressed in 3 years.
Persistence pays off.

The leg, my favorite part in this origami.

Origami frog on wet folding

Do you like a frog ?
Maybe, many people don't like it.
But I like very much.They are very cute and their eyes are very kind.

Today, I folded an origami frog.
I used water.
I wetted an origami paper after folded the frog, and I made a frog form.
When it dry out, complete.
The technique is called "wet folding".

Unit origami ball

Origami that made of one sheet, is not all of origami.
Origami made of many sheets of paper, is fun too.
The relish of one sheet origami and the fun of many sheets origami is different.
How different? Try it and you can catch faster than I explane.

This origami ball is made of many same parts.
Such origami is called "Unit Origami". In this case, 30 parts.

Let's enjoy unit origami.

1. Fold.

3. Fold.


4. Turn paper over.


5. Fold.


6. Fold.


7. Memorize the point A.


8. Turn paper over.


9. Fold.


10. Memorize the point B.


11. Turn paper over.


12. Fold the point A toward the point B.


13. Unfold.


14. Fold the corner toward the corner. This time, the point A and B open.


15. Fold.


16. Turn paper over.


17. Fold.


18. Fold.


19. Unfold.


20. 1 piece complete.


21. Make more 2 parts.


22. Insert into the middle layer.


23. Repeat 22.




24. Make more 5 blocks.


25. And repeat 22 and repeat 22 and repeat 22 and......

26. Then complete.


Unit origami is not easy. Especially makeup is difficult.
However, the folding is easy in many case.
Witch do you like better, one sheet origami or unit origami?

Super zoom! What is this?

This is origami peacock's wing.

How beautiful this pattern is.

This pattern is "ミウラ折り(miura ori)". This pattern is very famous.
What are you think about how it store solar panel of satellite in a rocket? It has to fold efficiently, and must unfold it easily.
"Miura ori" is pattern that lay parallelograms on the paper. It can fold easily and it can unfold simply. "Miura ori" is best.
In fact, NASA use "miura ori".
However, the preparing is bother. I had to fold many times.
First, I folded vertical divide by 32. And, I folded lateral divide by 32.
And and, I folded all diagonal line.
I took 1 hour for just preparing.

When I finished fold all, I gave a deep sigh.
